MFA - Global Multi-Factor Authentication and Multi-Factor Authentication

Multi-Factor Authentication, often abbreviated to MFA, is a security process that requires users to provide multiple forms of identification before granting access to a system or account. These authentication factors are usually divided into three categories:

  • Something you know: This includes your password or PIN.
  • Something you have: This can be a physical device such as a smartphone, security token or smart card.
  • Something you are: This refers to biometric factors such as fingerprints, facial recognition or retina scanning.

By combining these factors, MFA creates an additional layer of security that significantly reduces the risk of unauthorized access. Trippus now offers the opportunity for an MFA.

Global

Note that only the Triad SuperUser will see the Global option.
If you do not have such a User, contact Trippus support.
Global makes it possible to require all Users for the Triad to use MFA.

  1. Click + for Primary
  2. Choose which method everyone should use - click Add.
  3. Then you can see what is selected for all Users.
  4. If you click on the Users icon, you will then see who has activated their MFA and when.

The first time a User then tries to log in, they get this response image with the corresponding heading for what was chosen then:

To access the list again, click on "Global Multi-factor authentication" under your profile at the top right. Then you can see which ones have been activated. From there, you can add another MFA if desired, or remove the requirement.

If a Global MFA is activated, Multi-Factor Authentication is deactivated for all Users.

Multi-Factor Authentication – for your own User

You can set this yourself per individual User if it is not set Globally for the Triad.

  1. Click on Multi-Factor Authenticator under your profile at the top right.
  2. Click + after Primary
  3. Choose which method you want to use. Click Add and follow the instructions.
  4. You can add additional MFA if you want more, it is then visible per line what you have selected.

To access the list again, click on "Multi-factor authentication" under your profile at the top right where you can remove or add as desired.
